Overview
In 2020, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Tiffany M. Gill, an accomplished historian with a vision: to create a personal and professional brand that reflected both her warmth and her depth of knowledge. Tiffany wanted an identity that felt approachable and engaging, yet still conveyed the authority of her expertise.
Role
Brand + Web Designer | Logo Design, Visual Identity, Website Design
Challenge
Tiffany’s work spans academic scholarship, public speaking, and writing. She needed a cohesive brand that could represent her both professionally and personally. The challenge was to strike a balance between professional credibility and personal charm. I needed to ensure her online presence felt authentic and approachable without losing a sense of expertise.
Design Process
Discovery + Brand Vision
Our first conversations were about her values, target audiences, and long-term goals. Her brand needed to:
- Communicate trust, intelligence, and approachability
- Be versatile across academic and public-facing platforms
- Feel modern while respecting the timeless nature of history
Logo Design
I explored concepts that combined clean typography with subtle flourishes to reflect both professionalism and personality. The final logo featured an elegant, serif-based wordmark paired with warm tones that nodded to her presence and the richness of her subject matter.
Website Design
The website was a digital home for Tiffany’s biography, publications, media features, and speaking engagements. The key considerations:
- Clear navigation for different audience types
- Visual hierarchy to guide users toward learning more about her work
- A responsive design that worked seamlessly across devices
Impact
Tiffany was satisfied with the process and final result of her branded website. She could confidently share with colleagues, media outlets, and the overall public. The identity feels distinctly her allowing her personality and expertise to shine equally.
